8x8 Makes Cloud Computing Accessible to All Businesses
New Windows Cloud Server Hosting Solution

8x8, Inc. has just announced the widespread availability of its Windows Cloud Server hosting solution. The new platform allows businesses of any size to instantly deploy cloud servers and virtual cloud servers, as well as geographically aware DNS and full IPv6 support. Prior to the announcement, the platform was only available for the Linux operating system.
The 8x8 Windows Cloud Server Hosting Solution comes with many features, including server snapshots that allow you to restore or rebuild your server in the event of technical difficulties. It also uses RAID-10 disk storage to ensure high performance and allows automated provisioning if you need to build a new server or upgrade a current one. In addition, the hosting solution supports private networks, public IP addresses, SSH key logins, firewalls, and an out-of-band console.
The 8x8 Windows Cloud Server Hosting Solution also does not have any set-up fees or contracts whatsoever. A small business can choose to pay by the month (starting at $49/month) or by the hour (starting at $0.12/hour).
Andy Schwabecher, the General Manager of Hosting Solutions at 8x8, spoke briefly about the new hosting solution. He stated, “Businesses are moving away from on-premise computing solutions in order to save money on infrastructure and the accompanying man-hours needed to manage it. While other providers are heading down building solutions for software developers, 8x8 is focused on bring user-friendly cloud server technologies such as snapshots, cloning, availability zones and hourly billing to conventional IT groups.”
