MegaPath Buys Colorado's IP5280

Megapath, a prominent VoIP and data provider that has offices located throughout the United States, recently announced that it had purchased IP5280 Communications, a Colorado-based business VoIP provider.

The terms of the deal were not released to the public, but Megapath reportedly offered continued employment to IP5280's approximately two dozen employees. John Scarborough and Jeffrey Pearl, the co-founders and managing partners of the company, will also join MegaPath's management team. In addition, IP5280's offices that are near Denver and Albuquerque will remain in operation.

IP5280 offers a full range of online phone services, including High Definition Business VoIP, Hosted PBX and SIP Trunking. The company also provides a variety of IT professional services and advanced Business VoIP applications to its customers. The addition of IP5280 to Megapath's portfolio should help to expand the company's visibility and presence in the Midwest.

John Scarborough spoke briefly to a reporter from the Denver Post about the decision. He stated, "The technology changes very quickly in the IP space. In order for us to fulfill our mission to become a national premier provider of voice over IP services beyond just being here in the region of Colorado and New Mexico, it became very self-evident that we needed to partner with someone with the deeper resources and the expertise."
